“A Beatle’s Wasteland”

‘How did I get myself into this mess?!’ he thought while trying to find beauty in his surroundings, with freeze burn on his toes.

His mind was frozen from the cold. And in this solitude, all he managed to do was to hum a tune to try and stay awake. All that came to mind in this ironic turn of events, was a song he used to sing with his friends under a starry night around the camp fire…

“We all live in a yellow submarine, yelloow suubmaariine, yeeellooow sub…mmaa….riiinee…”

And then he dosed off into the stars.

  2. Funny thing is, I had been writing a different post and was also going to use the Beatles lyrics to Yellow Submarine! But then we had so many things shift this past week, I wrote it differently. Glad you could incorporate the song and you did it in a clever way to enhance your story.

    1. Funny, you can still write, intrigued how yours comes out. Not sure why my first FF always ends in death, but I manage to resurrect the character in the 2nd FF. 😀

  3. Like your take… And that song reminds me of school… When we were kept in at rainy play they would gather us in the hall and put it in the record player! (Yes I’m that old!)

    1. What is old??!!! 😀

      Have a confession to make, I am not really a Beatles fan (sorry @ all fans!!), never was, don’t know why. Some songs I like, but I am a rare breed unfortunately.

      But the Yellow Submarine just came to mind for the character who remembered good days before he took his last breath.

      I try to write less depressing 😉

      I love your experience with the song, though.
