what IF god was one of us?

what IF god was one of us?
what if he was so far away
that we had to make him up
to be close
yet closed up

up
up high

we call him a he
and not an it or she

why?

because we are used to a patriarchal system?
that gets away with
murder
rape
greed
cover-ups
political correctness…
whatever an “up” system
gets away with?

so white
and right
the snow flakes
don’t know where to fall?

when my brother died
most of my christian friends
were at a loss
they went gone
far far away

when I was bullied in Pret
some of my christian friends
victim-blamed me

yeah
you say
don’t rely on
nor trust in people
only trust in Jesus
he’s your friend
or judge
he smites you
or comforts you
only trust in God
(with a capital letter of course)

this god is very bipolar to me
you go to heaven
or you go to hell
nothing inbetween

ok
I’m in!

I had baths
with candle light
for mindfulness
and I wrote on my walls
to avoid writing emails

I went from charity
to charity
to church
to ministry
to government mental
health support
to work
to home
to the streets

and secular organizations just want your money
and spiritual places want your membership
and your money
and where’s my family
and where are my friends?
my family is almost gone
and my friends left long time ago

and what IF god was one of us?
and I don’t really care
god certainly isn’t me
but I’m here

I worked at Pret A Manger for almost 10 years and survived systemic workplace bullying during bereavement that involved HR, the top leadership, HQ and even the CEO Clive Schlee. I declined 4 settlement offers if I am silent about my ordeal. But I rather starve and speak out to help others. For an overview of important blog entries of my experience with Pret, please visit “My Ordeal with Pret A Manger”. The little arrow to the right next to each heading will lead directly to the post.
I also tell my story for the first time verbally in this >>>
podcast interview based in California, and wrote an article in the Scottish Left Review.
Thank you for reading/listening.
