Quote of the Day:
“Insure management respects the workers and don’t be condescending on them, please don’t act over controlling in respect to ensuring we work like robots. Pret is all about personality.”
Well, that’s what they tell you in Head Office that Pret is all about personality, and having worked for three months in Pret it’s easy to fall for this. And it is cozy in Head Office, but on the shop floor as stated in the review, it is a very different story that Pret is aware of but refuses to change.
Head office looks good when you’ve visited a few times without knowing anyone. My HQ experience I have written extensively, but in a nutshell I experienced a corrupt HR department with 10 flawed grievance and appeal’s hearing including one disciplinary hearing where a Development Manager was tasked to issue me a written warning for my emailing (electronic communication). She then entered into personal electronic communication with me, which was part of getting unfairly dismissed.
After a breakdown when I was bullied by managers, a head of a department in HQ asked me in the grievance appeal’s hearing against a HR PBP, if my GP can verify my breakdown which my colleagues have testified to in the investigations. The CEO labeled me his “late night girl” after my late night emails out of my trauma … which I write about extensively. I will link in these sentences to the appropriate blog entries.
But my HQ experience has been traumatic where I was gaslighted, manipulated and lied to on numerous occasions.

I worked at Pret A Manger and survived systemic workplace bullying during bereavement that involved HR, the top leadership, HQ and even the now “retired” former CEO Clive Schlee. I declined 4 settlement offers if I am silent about my ordeal. But I rather speak out to help others. For an overview of important blog entries of my experience with Pret, please visit “My Ordeal with Pret A Manger”. The little arrow to the right next to each heading will lead directly to the post.
An incomplete list on what other Pret staff say about Pret’s bullying environment: Caught in the Act Bullying at Pret.
I tell my story for the first time verbally in below audio player interview on a podcast by The Adam Paradox, and wrote two articles in the Scottish Left Review.
Thank you for reading/listening.
