I wrote about why Pret will NOT keep their “Better Chicken Commitment” (BCC) and just try to sweet-talk animal welfare groups to wait 5 years further. Of Course Pret Don’t Keep Their Promise.
The Anima campaign started on 15th June 2026 throughout London. By 9th July 2026 – Fifty-Thousand people have signed up to pledge to take a “break” from Pret. And these are only the people who signed up, many others don’t bother signing up and still boycott Pret for a while and even for good.
As of writing this post on 19th July 2026, the Anima campaign has raised over 73,000 sign-ups to take a break from Pret. I just round it up to 75K as not everyone signs up, while still deciding to boycott Pret. And I’m sure this and higher numbers will be reached in the coming days and weeks.

If we do an average spend per day in Pret and multiply this by 75,000+ people … katchink katchink!
But let’s stick with a rounded-up 75,000 sign-ups.
The average customer who goes to Pret daily, even now with the hiked prices, spends around between £7 – 15 on lunch, and/or for a daily coffee and later lunch sandwich.
But let’s be stingy and pretend the daily customer only spends £5 on a daily coffee and the cheapest snack. A filter coffee maybe and a till bar? Or a latte with half an extra shot, as in Pret the “strong” espresso is NOT a double shot, but HALF a shot added to the regular shot. I explain that psychological cheat here: Pret A Manger Strong Espresso Shot. In short, there is no such thing as a double or extra shot in Pret.
But let’s take the cheapest daily spend of £5 in Pret. Multiply by 75,000, as most people go to Pret daily. That’s £375,000 per DAY lost for Pret. Over quarter of a million pounds per DAY lost.
In a week (5 working days) that’s £1,875,000.
And In a month, that’s a minimum of £7.5 million lost!
Let’s round it up to £10 million per MONTH on lost customers.
But of course we know that most people spend more, even now during the cost of living crisis and Pret’s hiked prices. Only Pret know the losses.
.
I think it’s safe to say that Pret are easily losing a minimum of £7.5 million per month right now!

On the price hikes, I recommend a brilliant Financial Times article from 2023, “The Price Problem with Pret“. The journalists rips Pret’s bullsh!t apart, especially regarding “inflation”. This is investigative journalism at its finest! Unfortunately people have to register to read behind the pay wall. But I think the first article is free to read. Can’t remember.
The U.S. satire host Jon Stewart gave a very simple reality check on why corporations raise prices. They raise prices NOT due to inflation, nor due to dishing out millions to their executives and shareholders, but when wages are raised a few pennies or dollars.
And since the profit losses due to Anima’s “frankenchicken” campaign, get ready for more price hikes.
But I wildly guess that Pret’s losses in ONE month, range around £30 – £50 million, if not more! And this is only from 75K boycott pledges regarding the “frankenchickens”. Many people boycott or have quit Pret altogether for all sorts of other reasons, which can be seen on Pret’s Trustpilot reviews. 71% (1 & 2 star reviews combined) are fed up with Pret. One loyal customer of 31 years even recently quit Pret.
.

.
Pret already lost a third of their value, having been written down over £500 million last year, making their German owners consider selling Pret.
This campaign is putting a massive dent into Pret’s profits!
🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 ….
And I’m here for it, eating popcorn, knowing the executives are having heated board room meetings now!
Looking forward to a Financial Times journalist digging into the numbers in months to come!
Pret, PLEASE keep claiming to be “doing the right thing naturally” while breaking your promises!!! I am have a good time right here!

To celebrate Pret’s profit losses, a favourite band’s song I saw recently in a live show: Ho99o9 “Power in Numbers”
“First things first first, fight the power by any means necessary
I don’t bleed for no man’s sins, option only way incendiary
Step back, move back out the way
The new revolution, straight to your face
Stuck in a cage, I’m in a rage to make a change in the system
So better watch what you say to me
Yeah, it’s power in numbers
Come on, it’s power in numbers
Yeah, it’s power in numbers
Come on, it’s power in numbers”

On another note, Andrew and Tristan Tate were again arrested on rape and sex trafficking charges, this time in Miami, FL for extradition to the UK.
Tristan Tate claimed he worked in McDonald’s as a teenager. Then he said to me when he DM’d me that he was a Pret barista in Luton Airport, then later in public on X said he made sandwiches in Pret. Whatever is true, I put his ridiculous DM public as he thought he could impress me with giving me unsolicited advise. (See video slide below).
The Tate brothers’ tactic is to DM 16 year old girls on social media, mostly girls who have 20 followers, impressing them and then recruiting them for their sex cam business. Tristan DM’ing me was supposed to impress me?
Nope! I got angry at this empty man’s audacity to slide into my DM! In public I tagged the brothers in and wrote, “Take your cars and cigars and shun it up your arse!” calling them p!mps, which they self-proclaim. A day later my account got suspended. I don’t give a flying fudge-cake! Shut me down any- and everywhere! I will never stop calling out bullies and crooks.
These modern-day p!mps who used the Internet to recruit girls and women on a large scale, deserve prison. But even then, they will play kings inside the prisons. Their penalty should be to get SEPARATED to different prisons in different states / countries should it be in the UK. Destroying women’s lives and misleading young men into the abyss, rot in prison fathermuckers!
Don’t DM someone you haven’t done your homework on you empty man!

I worked at Pret A Manger and survived systemic workplace bullying during bereavement that involved HR, the top leadership, HQ and even the now “retired” former CEO Clive Schlee. Schlee has been appointed CEO of itsu in 2024 by Julian Metcalfe who gave him the CEO spot at Pret many years ago.
I declined 4 settlement offers if I am silent about my ordeal. But I rather speak out to help others. For an overview of important blog entries of my experience with Pret, please visit “My Ordeal with Pret A Manger”. The little arrow to the right next to each heading will lead directly to the post.
An incomplete list on what other Pret staff say about Pret’s bullying environment: Caught in the Act Bullying at Pret and What shop MANAGERS & HQ staff say about Pret incl. CEO Pano Christou.
I tell my story for the first time verbally in below audio player interview on a podcast by The Adam Paradox, and wrote two articles in the Scottish Left Review as well as mentioned by the BBC.
